Burial Benefits
Burial benefits available include a gravesite in any of the 150+ national cemeteries with available space, opening and closing of the grave, perpetual care, a Government headstone or marker, a burial flag, and a Presidential Memorial Certificate, at no cost to the family. Some Veterans may also be eligible for Burial Allowances. Cremated remains are buried or inurned in national cemeteries in the same manner and with the same honors as casketed remains.
Survivor Benefits
Survivor Benefits provides information about two types of financial help for families of deceased service members and Veterans. One is Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC), which is paid to eligible family members of service members who died in the line of duty, or Veterans who died because of a service-related injury or illness. The other is the Survivors Pension, also called the Death Pension. This is a tax-free payment for low-income, un-remarried spouses and unmarried children of Veterans who served during wartime.

VA Life Insurance
There are many types of life insurance provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs. For the most current news and updates, please go to the VA Life Insurance Page
Service-Connected Disability
A service-connected disability may entitle you to additional benefits such as VA medical care, vocational rehabilitation, adaptive equipment/homes, etc.

CHAMPVA
CHAMPVA is a healthcare benefits program for certain family members of Veterans. It covers dependents of Veterans who have a total and permanent disability rated by the VA, as well as survivors of Veterans who died from service-connected conditions or were permanently and totally disabled at the time of death. It also includes survivors of individuals who died in the line of duty, as long as the death wasn’t due to misconduct and they are not eligible for DOD Tricare benefits. Through CHAMPVA, the VA helps pay for approved healthcare services and supplies for those who qualify.
VA Home Loan
A VA home loan is a type of mortgage available to eligible Veterans, active-duty service members, and some surviving spouses. It’s offered through private lenders like banks and mortgage companies, but the VA guarantees part of the loan. This guarantee helps lenders offer better loan terms, such as lower interest rates or no down payment.

Pension
VA helps Veterans and their families cope with financial challenges by providing supplemental income through the Veterans Pension benefit. Veterans Pension is a tax-free monetary benefit payable to low-income wartime Veterans.
TRICARE
TRICARE is the Department of Defense’s worldwide health care program for active duty and retired uniformed services members and their families. For information on eligibility and beneficiaries, visit the TRICARE website.
